Christ’s supremacy over leaders

Pray for yourself: Sovereign Father, take me into more of Christ today.

Right now, your Son holds full sway as the “ruler of kings on earth!”

Even so, by your Spirit, please deepen and expand his reign over my daily walk with him.

Right now, Jesus’ claim to be Lord of lords places limits on all human authorities, whether they realize it at this moment or not.

Even so, by your Spirit, may his reign fully become the center and circumference of my life, placing limits on all that I do so that everything I do is focused exclusively on glorifying his name.

Right now, Jesus is calling all earthly authorities to account before the throne of heaven, whether they hear his voice at this moment or not.

Even so, by your Spirit, make me aware of anything in my life resisting his lordship, avoiding obedience to his will, or failing to give him the devotion he rightfully deserves.

Right now, the King of kings is challenging, even subverting, the schemes of world rulers, pushing back against their claims of ultimate power. He is doing so primarily through the advance of the gospel as it proclaims the irrefutable, supreme declaration of his saving reign among the nations, whether they recognize him at this moment or not.

Even so, by your Spirit, fill my heart with the truths of the gospel and empower me for the work of the gospel so that, for Jesus’ sake, I might be fully involved in advancing the gospel right where I live.

One day, all the crowns of all world rulers will reside upon Jesus’ head alone. In that hour, his right to reign that has been prevailing all along will finally be recognized, understood, affirmed, and certified by every ruler and every authority in heaven and on earth and under the earth.

Therefore, at this very moment in your presence, I want to swear my total surrender to my Lord. I pledge my total commitment to him, saying:

I pledge my allegiance to the Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, Lamb of God, King of kings, Lord of lords, our Creator and Redeemer, and the sole purpose for our existence. And I pledge allegiance to the kingdom over which he reigns, one family in heaven and on earth, reconciled by his blood and bound together by his Spirit, summoned to live for his reigning glory forever and ever. Amen!
